So, as we are loving, as we are living sent, how can we know if we are being successful? Is it possible that Jesus defines success as more than “nickels and noses?” More than how
much money is given? More than how many people are coming?
For Westpoint, here’s what we hope for, what we pray for, and what we equip for. Here’s how we define success:
100% of Westpoint, 100% of the time, loving with 100% of who we are,
so that 100% of those we love can know the One
who loved us first and compels us to love.
:: 100% following
...everyone connected with this local expression, following Jesus daily in the midst of their spheres of influence.
:: 100% together
...everyone doing life together with Christ-followers, as well as with those who are still looking for the way.
:: 100% discipling
...everyone discipling, if even just one, learning the ways of Jesus and living those ways so that others may know Him.
:: 100% giving
...everyone giving sacrificially - not just out of what we’ll never miss, but even beyond what we can afford.
:: 100% dreaming
...everyone dreaming dreams and following Jesus as He blossoms those dreams abundantly in our lives.
:: 100% valuable
...everyone recognizing that God sees them as worth dying for and counts their life as a valuable sentence in the grander story of God, transforming lives here in our community and beyond.
That would be success.
Success defined.
how can we know?
unity required.
One of the greatest evidences of love is unity. In fact, one leader emphasizes the following principles in his organization in order to promote the importance of unity. They are worth considering and adopting as followers of Jesus together.
1_we will communicate openly and often, because poor communication hurts unity.
2_we will not gossip, for gossip is one of the greatest destroyers of unity. Rather, we will build one another up by encouraging and challenging one another in love.
3_we will resolve conflict, for unresolved disagreements are crippling in a community of love.
4_we have one purpose, a shared purpose: to love God and love people and be discipling people in the ways of Jesus. A lack of shared purpose hinders a community of love.
5_we will not stand idly by when incompetence or laziness is present. Instead, in love, we will spur each other on toward being what we were made to be in all things.
We must be unified.
